Algae-based alternative fuel is incredibly important to San Diego. This is a magic bullet alternative fuel that will take off as soon as it can be produced cost effectively. Our region's scientific community and proximity to ocean and desert mean that San Diego can be a world leader in this industry; that would be transformative for the regional economy, not to mention the global environment.
ReplyDeleteOur region needs green jobs at all pay-grades. Science and tech will create high skill, high salary employment for graduate degree holders. Weatherization and green construction jobs will be even more important, since they will create middle income jobs that will be accessible to many more San Diegans (not to mention they will reduce utility bills).
